Neither team is scoring a lot of runs the last few days.  Without a DH, it “should” drop opportunities for the Bronx Bombers.  Looking for both pitchers to pick up the game tonight and get us a much needed under on the total.  The money is on the over, of course we are going the other way!

Taking the Giants at home after a losing night against the Pirates.   Sanchez has problems pitching against the Pirates, but I see him pulling this game out.  Pirates are playing 500 ball which is a shock to most.  I don’t think they’ll pick up the serious today so I’m taking a value play with the Giants needing to win by 2 runs.

West Virginia vs #5 Cincinnati

Friday nights are usualy sloted for after work drinks or watching bad tv with the wife at home .  Not tonight! 

The West Virginia Mountaineers are facing off aginst the Cincinnati Bearcats in a game that actually means something.  Cincinnati is looking pretty at 9-0 and would love the opportunity to set the records tonight with a chance to go 10-0 for the first time in its history.   The no hudle offense has some sick numbers and is looking to win back to back Big East titles this year. 

West Virginia’s running back Noel Devine might be hampered with an ankle injury, but somehow he must be healthy enought to attack Cincinnatis defense to win an important game.   The real story will be on the defense that needs to figure out how to stop a wicked passing attack by the Bearcats.   It wont be easy, but this years Big East is a tough and if West Virginia has any chance it needs a win tonight to stay alive in the Big East.

Cinncinatti is tough to beat at home and should win this game.   However, I don’t feel this is a laydown and will take West Virginia and the points.

Temple vs Akron

Exciting times in North Philly for Temple alums.  The Owls 7-2 are looking to go 8-2 and shed the door knob stigma it has owned for nearly 2 decades.  I think it will be another close game against a horrible Akron Zips team who upset Kent State last week.   Not sure I could take  the Zips at +5 even at home so I will stick with the talent pool at Temple.

Even with a solid win against West Virgina and some serious talent on the defensive side of the ball you have to feel the Bulls are headed for a let down in New Jersey.  Rutgers owns South Florida and crushed them last year.

On the other hand, if you add up the numbers it looks like the Bulls might have an edge number wise, but at closer look you’ ll see the Scarlet Knights have had a tad more impressive year thus far.

Will the revenge minded Bulls ride into New Brunswick with renewed fire after they upset West Virginia or will they face a Scarlet Knights team that still owns their number.   Only time will tell, but I’ll take Greg Schiano’s Scarlet Knights at home.

Bowling Green vs Miami (Ohio)

This game should actually be closer than you think.  Miami is horrible without a doubt, but the team plays Bowling Green close year in and year out, owning the overall win record against them.   Miami got real unlucky vs Temple last week losing in the last seconds to a field goal in Philadelphia.   However, I think Bowling Green has a good chance to correct the ship vs Miami this year.

I hate the high line in this game, but the Huskies are out for blood in a revenge game and a possible bowl bid.

Taking Oakland +16 1/2 vs San Diego.  Neither team is very impressive, but I feel a solid defensive game coming from both sides of the ball which should help keep the game close.   San Diego should win this game because it owns the Raiders, and don’t expect Russell to turn into Rivers any time soon.  Historically these two teams find a way to battle each other into a close game.   Any props on how many interceptions in this game?

The Philadelphia Eagles are an enigma right now and it looks like “Westy” is out again for the Birds.  The Giants should pull it together and get a win today vs the Philadelphia Eagles.   I don’t believe this will be a blow out by either team, but I lean towards the Giants at -1 1/2. Whats really important in this games is it’s a divisional game so the better team should and needs to prevail.

The Baltimore/Denver should be a great game to watch.  High percentage QB Kyle Orton does more than enough to win games for Denver, but this weekend see his old face come back to life.  The Baltimore defense will be all over the Broncos helping the team get an important win after last weeks lost.  This game comes down to coaching and I give the nod to Harbaugh.  The Ravens coaching should have addressed the big play meltdowns on the secondary and the rest of the team is salivating for a win.
